Moodymann

Kenny Dixon Jr., aka Moodymann, is an enigma. A Detroit legend who operates entirely on his own terms, he is one of the most respected and mysterious figures in house music. His sound is a dusty, soulful, sample-heavy collage that draws a direct line from the blues and gospel of the American South to the techno futurism of Detroit.

Moodymann doesn’t just play records; he preaches. His sets are unpredictable journeys that might drift from a Prince B-side to a gritty techno track, held together by his own gravelly voice on the mic. He rejects the polished, commercial face of dance music in favour of something rawer, blacker, and infinitely more soulful.

Seeing Moodymann in the woods is going to be a vibe. It’s a set for the heads, for the dancers who want to feel the history of the music. It’s rare, it’s real, and it’s the kind of booking that defines the "curated" nature of Beyond The Pale.
